Project Description

Headley Stokes are proud to be assisting the Church of England to develop their existing portfolio of surplus buildings and land. We have highlighted two schemes as examples of the type of work undertaken.

St Mary’s Church Site / March, Cambridgeshire

A very sensitive glebe land sit opposite listed St Mary’s Church. Headley Stokes have proposed a development that interpret the language and architecture of St Mary’s Church within the proposed residential development. A close of nine Almshouses are proposed which will compliment the sensitive church setting.

Glebe Land / Somersham, Cambridgeshire

For this large site partly located within the Somersham Conservation Area Headley Stokes is proposing a development of eighteen houses.

With a portion of the site directly adjoining nineteenth century listed Somersham House and its grounds. We have taken Somersham House’s classical proportions and interpreted these within the architecture of classical designed villas. The solution will provide a sensitive development adjoining Somersham House.

The other portion of site is adjoining a traditional terraced street for which we have interpreted their simple domestic style in the houses. The scheme here is based around a village green which helps soften the transitional nature of the site in its position between urban and the rural fields beyond.
